Konshens (pronounced "conscience"), born Tarik Davis, a talented writer and musician, was born and raised in Northwest Washington, DC. At an early age, he exhibited his musical potential as a vocalist and musician. As a precocious toddler, he was a guest performer with his uncle's "Park Avenue" band and by 4, he was attending The Institute for the Gifted and Talented and focusing on the piano.

As a young child, he began writing poetry and

continued to play music wherever there was an

audience, usually at church, school, or family

gatherings. His creativity developed and his artistic

abilities broadened over the years and by the age of 10, Konshens officially fell in love with hip hop.


Crediting Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Guru, Big L, Nas, Tupac and Scarface as some of his early influences, he continued to write and perform. A mere five years later, he became the rapper and backup lead talker for local go-go band "High

Image". His band opened for local legends like Rare Essence, Northeast Groovers, and the Junkyard Band and redefined the typical go-go band by

creating its own music and original lyrics.


Konshens recorded his first hip-hop song in 2001 with his longtime friend Antonio Graham. One year later, he met his current producer Phillip Carroll of X Factory Studio/Records. Taking advice given from Rich Harrison (co-writer and producer of various songs including Amerie's "1 Thing",


Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" & Destiny Child's

"Soldier"), along with the creative minds of

Phillip "Producer X" Carroll (or DOC as Konshens refers to him) and Dwayne "Blue"




Telesford, Konshens has developed his unique contribution to hip hop.

Hello to all and I hope all is well. Some that are close to me knows that my mom is missing. I've been trying to post her picture but it is in pdf file so I've been trying to figure this out.

Well the update is I went to the police station and basically the police stated that there's nothing they can do, because she is over 18. If she was 18 and under she maybe would be put in the national missing persons database. I stated that she's not taking her medicine and she needs to be mentually evaluated based off of what I was told. The officer said he will do what he can and see about getting her at least in the system by people he know that works in the department. They can only help if she was being threatened. So bascially I'm conducting my own search with the help of those who are close to me. I thank my friends on my space and my other networks that are helping as well.

I just wanted to say to all. If you are close with your family please apreciate them. I never had a close relationship with mine. I was blessed to have people placed in my life to show me how it is to be loved. Just to be able to come together some don't have it. Just be more forgiving and keep them close. No one is perfect. No matter what happened this is still my mom and I love her and I will always be there. How I do it? I am not going to allow haterd to destroy my heart or dwell on what happened to me. I want to grow as a person and hopefully one day I can help someone else.
